ultrasound scan of shoulder.

If you're suffering with shoulder pain in Leicester and need a swift, specialist assessment, a shoulder ultrasound scan could provide the accurate answers you seek.

I'm Dr D Kathuria, a Consultant Radiologist with 35 years of experience, working both with the NHS and privately at The Health Suite in Leicester. My role is to deliver reliable, rapid diagnosis for problems such as degenerative tendinopathy, partial or full thickness rotator cuff tears, bursitis, frozen shoulder, fluid within the joint and synovitis.

Shoulder ultrasound is a precise, real-time imaging technique that allows us to quickly assess the possible causes of your discomfort. For many conditions, a shoulder ultrasound is the gold standard for rotator cuff tear and bursitis, and it can also guide injections of steroid or other medication into the joint or bursae. I provide same day results for most scans, so you won't be left waiting and worrying.

How the test is performed

During your specialist shoulder ultrasound, you will sit in a supportive chair while I carry out the scan. Depending on which shoulder needs assessing and your movement comfort, I may work from in front of or behind you. I'll gently assist you in moving your shoulder into a variety of positions, so we can get the best views of all tendons and structures. Sometimes, I assess your shoulder movement dynamically, in real-time, giving further insights into the source of your pain.
